Reflections from the Bar
One of the questions I get asked a lot is, "Will you practice?"
Most times, I just smile because I know where that question is coming from.
But I didn't give this journey eight years of my life only to shelve the certificate, the skills, and the expertise that came with it.
The truth is, I have always been both.
I wrote my first book when I was eight years old. I've always been a creative. But I didn't stumble into law either. I chose it. The evidence is tucked away in my secondary school yearbook, where I confidently wrote that I wanted to become a lawyer.
Somewhere along the journey, creativity grew into a career, and there were moments when I wondered if graduating from law would be enough. But even through the longest nights of law school, I would catch myself laughing and thinking, "Well... you chose this yourself. You have no one else to blame. Keep going."
So, will I practice?
Absolutely.
Just perhaps not in the way some people expect.
The law and creativity have never been competing paths for me. They have always been two parts of the same story. And if the last eight years have taught me anything, it's that I don't have to leave one behind to honour the other.
